Connecting With Our Community

The North Palm Beach County Men’s Shed is not only a great organization for the individual members, it also works to benefit other organizations in the area.

Cabana Colony Police Athletic League (PAL)

The mission at PAL is to build partnerships between youth, law enforcement, and the community through recreational and educational programs designed to encourage, enhance and develop good citizenship and improve the quality of life in the Cabana Colony area of Palm Beach County.  Their motto is “Every Kid needs a PAL”.

The NPBC Men’s Shed participated in the construction of a set of backpack cubbies for the kids. We continued to support this group by funding Thanksgiving Dinner on the Wednesday preceding Thanksgiving.

In addition, the men of the Shed routinely meet with the boys for Breakfast with the Sherriff. These breakfasts give the boys a chance to ask questions, while also giving the men a chance to mentor them. It’s a very popular with both men and boys!

Edna W. Runner Tutorial Center project: construction of planters for succulents in their display garden.

Shedders worked with students to construct a planting bed for their garden. The children will continue to fill the planters and grow succulents.

The Lord’s Place transforms lives by providing solutions that break the cycle of homelessness for the most vulnerable and neglected in Palm Beach County.  This social impact agency has been serving men, women and families in our community for 40 years.  Their innovative, compassionate, and effective services are constantly evolving to end local homelessness for good. The Shed has supported their work through financial donations.

The North County Senior Center

The North County Senior Center has been our partner from the beginning.  When we started the Shed in October 2018, the Senior Center provided us with meeting space for our weekly meetings.  Due to COVID, the Senior Center closed in March 2020, and we shifted to meeting on Zoom.  We continue to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship by sponsoring special occasions such as CPR demonstrations open to older adults in the community, holiday parties, and county-wide job fairs.
